Research Report: Analysis of 1946 UAP Photos

Introduction

As part of Fleet 22's ongoing research into UAP sightings, I analyzed a series of 7 photographs from 1964, sourced from the National Archives website. These photos depict an unidentified object in the sky, with the surrounding environment providing potential clues to its nature. This report outlines the methods and conclusions of my analysis, which sought to determine whether the object was a genuine anomaly or a scale model.

Initial Observations

Upon initial review of the photographs, I noticed an interesting detail: the trees in the background of some images appeared less in focus compared to the object itself. This discrepancy led to the hypothesis that the object might be a small-scale model, potentially suspended from a nearby tree.

Two of the photos featured a truck, which I identified as a 1946 Chevrolet truck. Using this truck as a known reference point, I was able to calculate distances and develop a 3D reconstruction of the scenes for further analysis.

3D Reconstruction and Analysis

Using the dimensions of the 1946 Chevy truck, and camera specifications, I recreated the two photographs in 3D space. This allowed me to estimate the relative positions of the camera, the truck, and the unidentified object. The following findings were made:

  • Photo 1 Analysis
    • The camera was approximately 10.435 meters from the car door.
    • Depending on the f-stop used, the distance between the truck and the object was estimated to be between 6.8 meters and 20 meters.
    • This suggested that the object had a diameter of approximately 1.06 to 1.75 meters.
  • Photo 2 Analysis
    • The camera was approximately 9.2 meters from the car door.
    • Depending on the f-stop, the distance from the truck to the object ranged from 13.3 meters to 27 meters.
    • This indicated that the object’s diameter was approximately 1.18 to 1.77 meters.

Conclusion

By cross-referencing the findings from both images, I was able to conclude that the object likely had a diameter between 1.12 meters and 1.85 meters. Given these dimensions, it is highly probable that the object in question was a scale model, rather than a large unidentified craft. The lack of clarity in the background trees, combined with the small size of the object, strongly suggests that it was a model, potentially suspended from a tree for photographic purposes.

This analysis contributes to the body of work distinguishing between genuine UAP sightings and potential hoaxes or misidentifications, helping to maintain scientific rigor in UAP research.
